Mini Venus Flytrap
Venus Flytrap, (Dionaea Muscipula) is a perennial carnivorous plant of the sundew family (Droseraceae), notable for its unusual habit of catching and digesting insects and other small animals. Attracting preys using sweet nectar, the Venus Flytrap will close its trap once the preys touch its trigger hairs. The insect’s continued struggles will cause the trap to seal, at which point digestive enzymes will dissolve the victim’s soft tissues. The trap reabsorbs these nutrients, and after about a week, reopens, using the carcass to attract new visitors.
Avoid fertilising them, and use distilled/ rain water, or tap water that has been left overnight where possible for best results. Even though they are lethal to gnats and small insects, they are completely safe for pets.
