Liana Polka

Planter styled with:
Begonia Maculata (Polka Dot Begonia)
Begonias are loved as houseplants and prized for their foliage, some asymmetrical, some patterned, and others variegated. With over 1,000 species and many more varieties and hybrids, begonias come in different colours, shapes and sizes too. Striking the right balance with watering and humidity is the biggest challenge when growing begonias. Ideally the potting mix should be slightly damp at all times, but not overly wet as Begonias are very susceptible to root rot.
Begonia Maculata, also known as Polka Dot Begonia, is a show-stopper with its olive green leaves and contrasting silvery-white spots, looking like polka dots. They do best in bright, indirect light and would appreciate extra humidity from a humidifier or pebble tray. Begonia Maculatas are prone to powdery mildew that can occur if their leaves are kept wet, so avoid getting the leaves wet during watering.
